Last week the City Council unanimously authorized the first phase of the Red/Purple Modernization Project and the accompanying Transit TIF. This action will supply matching funds to enable the City to receive over one billion dollars in federal aid. The project will greatly reduce travel times and improve the stations between Belmont and Howard, including making all of them accessible. Alderman Laurino voted in favor of this project to rebuild the one-hundred-year-old Red Line because it was required to secure matching funding from the federal government.
