City Council Update March 2019

At the March 13 meeting of Chicago's City Council, Alderman Laurino passed a number of ordinances to strengthen and preserve North Park Village.


  • On Wednesday, March 20th, Alderman Laurino also presented a resolution passed at Council to members of the North Park Village Advisory Council, in recognition for their continuing advocacy and work for the North Park Village campus community.  The North Village Advisory Council is an umbrella council made up of representatives from various groups that make up the North Park Village area.  At left is Co-Chairwoman, Sylvia Asslani, Peterson Park Improvement Association and Joel Bookman of the North River Commission.
















  • Alderman Laurino and the City Council established a formal process to ensure the government entities responsible for the administration of infrastructure maintenance at North Park Village continue to meet regularly and work together under the next administration. Click here for more information.   • With the support of Openlands, City Council has also begun the process of extending into perpetuity the conservation easement at North Park Village, transferring responsibility for the easement from Openlands to the Chicago Park District. The process requires approval from the City of Chicago and the Chicago Park District and will be completed later this year.
  • City Council approved Historic Landmark Designation for the former Chicago Municipal Tuberculosis Sanitarium Complex at North Park Village. Read a detailed summary of the landmark report here; see pictures and plans for the complex below.
