The Last Mile Community Workshop

July 9, 2016
Sauganash Park Field House - 5861 North Kostner Avenue, Chicago, IL 60646

Information + tickets here.

With the support of the offices of Alderman Arena and Alderman Laurino, The Good City Group at ARCHEWORKS is organizing a community workshop to engage residents of Jefferson Park, Forest Glen, and Sauganash as co-designers, who share their local knowledge of neighborhood history, architectural assets, and natural landscapes, and as active users of the resulting Last Mile cultural walks. The goal is to reinterpret the urban fabric by incorporating neighborhood memories, significant historical, and cultural narratives into residents’ daily commutes. The cultural walks will become a living legacy of community storytelling that residents can continue to use, steward, and expand.

Bring your stories, your ideas, pictures of your favorite sites. The Good City team will gather them as part of a collaborative process to create and map a series of short cultural walks. All ages are welcome.

Snacks will be served.

Additional Event, 8/21: One of the walks will be implemented during a one-day public event “Walk the Line,” on August 21st, 2016.  This public event marking the 200th anniversary of the Indian Boundary Line will be organized jointly with Jane’s Walk Chicago, a movement inspired by urban activist Jane Jacobs that helps people connect with their community and environment.
